it's my daughter's birthday today too:

she turns ten today.

TEN.

geezus. now she's a pre-teen. and then she'll be a teenager. and then she'll be going off to college and leaving me. and then she'll grduate with a kick-ass degree that allows her to live comfortably in a city within a 3-hour drive from me. and she'll come a visit me and take me out to lunch.

hey, i'm a korean mother. i have high expectations from my first born child.

i don't have an iphone. i have no plans on getting an iphone. yes, they're really cool. but i don't need one. but i can't help noticing all the cool pictures they take. i believe they're called instagrams?

A layout I did for Write.Click.Scrapbook- for the June gallery: We aim to Inspire. We were supposed to lift a layout  from the gallery of other desigers or contributors over the past year and I chose this one from the talented Celeste Smith. Even though hers is digital and a 12x12, I modified and loved the way it turned out.

this would be just one of the hermit crabs that WE DID NOT BRING HOME. we've made that mistake before. and you know how the saying goes, "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me..."

hermit crabs are not "fun" pets. they would rank up there with guinea pigs-kinda cute but the creepy factor is just too much for me to overlook.

charlie did a lot of this:

Honestly, I don't know what's cuter: watching a bunch of 3 &4 year olds playing soccer or watching baby bunnies fall asleep on youtube. The cuteness factor might be a tie.

finally friday layout: the name series

charlie's hair is growing back nicely for the most part. at least that's what i keep telling myself. it is, after all, just hair and it's one thing that always grows back when you're a youngester. now it just looks like he's got an awful 80's part in the middle like eric estrada did on CHIPS.

in between watching his hair grow out, i've been trying to work with him on writing his letters. specifically the letters that make up his name. and we were able to get it on paper:

for some reason, i love this milestone. it's a big one for me. so big that i've scrapped it when both girls did it too:

yeah.

madeline did the same thing except she took a chunk out of her hair around her right ear. she did that shortly after i took her picture in her layout.

i should switch out charlie's pictures for more recent ones but i don't have any yet. maybe i'll take some of him today...

Finally Friday layout: Snow

I created this layout in December, after our first real snowfall of the season.

I'm hoping we are nearing an end to the snow because I'm here to tell you, after 9 snow days this year, I'm not really sure if I can handle anymore. By mid-February, even the girls were starting to dread snow days because it was too cold to go out and play in the stuff.

Speaking of school, Charlie started preschool at the beginning of January. After the first apprehensive week, it's been pretty drama-free. He wakes up excited about going and walks right in without even a look behind. His preschool is at our church, where we've been members for almost 10 years. Last Sunday, we ALL went to church, something we haven't done since Charlie was born. As we were waiting for the service to begin, Charlie looks over at me and asks, "What is this place?"

Parent fail.

Yet again.

Finally Friday layout day

I'm slowly but surely trying to scrap at least one page a week and get back to posting a layout on Fridays again.

Let's see if it works. If it's anything like my exercise plan...I may end up doing just one page a month. But my intentions are good, right? That should count for something.

I'm doing better with my other resolution of not buying any new scrap supplies other than basic stuff like cardstock, adhesive, albums and page protectors.

But then again, it is only February.

Well, it's that time of year again. You know, the time where you make resolutions that you know you're not going to keep. Wait. That might be just me.

So this year, I've decided to not make any resolutions. I'm not going to exercise. I'm not going to get more organized. I'm not going to be more patient. And I'm not going to purchase more scrap supplies.

However, I will be giving away a copy of Ella Publishing's Journaling What Matters e-book:

I will draw a winner on Wednesday, January 5th so I can give more time for all you hungover people.

The-but we were on a break-Edition

My blog and I are on the verge of a break-up. It's grown distant and cold between us. We don't communicate that much anymore. I've found somebody else...

No, I'm not breaking up with Typepad but I do find myself on here less and less. I don't know the reason behind it (how about this: BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING IMPORTANT TO BLOG ABOUT). So I thought I'd write down a few things in list form to just give you a quick idea of what's been going on with me.

1. The girls started school a couple of weeks ago. They both have brand new teachers and the jury's still out on whether I'm pleased about this or worried.

2. Some days I feel like I've lost my mind.

3. Even though Charlie will be three in November, I've realized he's not ready for any type of preschool. Believe me, I've tried to pawn that kid off to anyone but the bottom line is, he's just not ready. And that's OK.

4. Since I have Charlie, I decided to watch my three year old nephew and another little boy part time during the week.

5. And I'm actually enjoying it (see #2).

6. Today I feel like shopping online. For what, I don't know but I have an urge.

7. Charlie got his haircut today. His bangs are SO crooked, I can't even bear to take a photo of it.

8. I haven't been scrapping much but I do have one to share with you:

9. Speaking of American Crafts, I'd like to thank that amazing company for allowing me to be on their design team these past two years. It's been awesome.

10. I need summer weather to be over and fall weather to start. Now.
